Our half haubergeon/voiders are used by knights and men at arms who want to cover the weak spots of their plate armour. It was especially prevalent in Quattrocento in Italy for men at arm wanting to wear proper sleeves protection, without burdening themselves with the weight of a full chainmail shirt. We find such configuration in several artistic representations of that time period.

This half haubergeon is intricately HANDMADE from 17 gauge mild steel rings with a diameter of approx. 9 mm each, riveted using DOME RIVETS. For increased strength, the rings alternate with SOLID FLAT RINGS. This half haubergeon is available in three sizes: medium, large and extra-large.

Be it in the legendary Viking wars or even the so-called “decisive” Battle of Hastings, knights and warriors always needed the highest form of protection; and when you reenact these wars, you have to make sure that you do too! This chainmail haubergeon will be just the fit for that!

This haubergeon utilizes a unique mail constructed of 14 gauge aluminium round rings, 10mm diameter, alternating with rubber solid rings. This method yields an extremely lightweight yet durable shirt for use where ease of wear is important. The Lorica Hamata that we decided to reconstruct here still keeps a lot of its Celtic original traits making it perfectly suitable equipment for Roman or Celtic cavalrymen or even legionary of Caesar during the Gallic wars or any similar legionary fighting of Hannibal’s armies during the Punic Wars.
